Three-Axis MEMS-based Accelerometers

ST has been the first on the market to offer 3-axis MEMS-based linear accelerometers and today it is also present with a fully digital solution with I²C/SPI interface.

Three-Axis Linear Accelerometer includes in one package the MEMS sensor that measures a capacitance variation in response to movement or inclination and a factory trimmed interface chip that converts the capacitance variations into analog or digital signal proportional to the motion.

The accelerometer delivers high resolution despite the low power consumption. Output bandwidths are customizable using inexpensive external capacitors or programming the register in case of digital solution.

The subfamily of 3-axis Linear Accelerometers is composed by two categories of products:

pure analog output
fully digital (I²C/SPI) output

Analog Output

3-axis digital MEMS accelerometers
Signal bandwidth for X and Y axis: 4.0KHz
Signal bandwidth for the Z axis: 2.5KHz
Wide Range Supply Voltage
The output voltage, offset, sensitivity and test voltage are ratiometric to the supply voltage
Device sensitivity is on-chip factory trimmed
Embedded self test
High shock survivability
Available in surface mounted package
Operating temperature range : -40 C /+85 C
Current consumption <1mA
Current consumption in power down mode <10uA
Acceleration noise density : <50ug/ Hz
Package available : SO24, QFN and LGA

Digital Output
The digital solution is a low-power, low voltage linear accelerometer with I²C/SPI interface that allows the implementation of an easy and intuitive interface.
The digital device has also a digital, programmable interrupt output to operate as a smart sensor to active external device when the threshold of the free fall/ wake up/ direct detection interrupt signal is exceeded.
