This board is an offline, wide-range, dual-output general-purpose power supply capable of delivering up to 6 W through two outputs, 5 Vdc and 12 Vdc. It operates at a switching frequency of 60 kHz and is set up for secondary regulation with an optocoupler.
In low-load conditions, it operates in automatic burst mode, while in overvoltage conditions, it operates in hiccup mode.
The main device used in this design is the VIPer12ADIP, which is a member of the VIPerX2A family. It combines a dedicated current-mode offline PWM controller with a high-voltage power MOSFET on the same silicon chip.
Other output voltages can easily be achieved by changing the transformer and a few components on the board. The following configurations can be obtained:
