L9346 : QUAD VALVE DRIVER The L9346 is a monolithic integrated quad low side driver suited for valves with currents up to 5A in an automotive environment. The internal pull down current sources at the ENABLE and INPUT pins ensure that the device is switched off in case of open input conditions. An output, voltage slope limitation for dV/dt is implemented to reduce electromagnetic emissions and an integrated active voltage limitation clamps the output voltage during the flyback phase to 50V. Each driver is protected against short circuit and thermal overload. In short circuit condition, the output is disabled just after exceeding the maximum current level allowed. The thermal disable of the output occurs for junction temperatures exceeding 180°C. The output is switched on again after a thermal hysteresis of typically 20K. Protected against short circuit features, the L9346's diagnostic pins feature real-time error diagnosis for each output. The device provides recognition of fail states such as overtemperature, short circuit to the supply, short to ground, bypass to ground and disconnected load. ISO-pulse and overall automotive ruggedness for maximum safe and reliable behavior allows operation in extremely critical applications such as braking systems (ABS/ASR). In a braking system the L9346 is used to drive the inlet and the outlet valves of the hydraulic system. Typically two channels with maximum current capability of 3A are used to drive the inlet valves and two channels with maximum current capability of 5A are used for the outlet valves. ![]() |
